Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Karara operates an iron ore mine and associated infrastructure in the mid-west region of W.A.
The operation is designed for a +30 year mine life and production of 8Mtpa. It comprises a long life and world-class magnetite deposit; dedicated rail infrastructure; and an integrated train load-out/ship loading facility at our Geraldton port operations. Karara is breaking new ground with the development and ongoing operation of the first significant iron ore mine in the mid- west.
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Cost Controller to support the Karara Maintenance team. Reporting into the Maintenance Planning Superintendent, this role is responsible for providing cost administration and support to the business and ensuring information is captured to promote accurate reporting and cost management.
Key responsibilities;
- Manage internal and external maintenance related costs to ensure cost allocations are aligned to forecasts and approved budgets
- Support with the development of Maintenance budget forecasts, cost reports and KPI presentations
- Actively participate in identification, development and implementation of cost and other related improvement projects and initiatives within the cost control function
- Proactively monitor and report on department objectives, opportunities, risks and successes within the cost control function
- Daily upload of all time sheet data for both Karara maintenance employees and major contractor personnel into SAP System as part of End of Month process
- Raise work orders and purchase requisitions in SAP
- Reconcile and receipt maintenance invoices and ensure purchase orders are closed on a monthly basis
- Interface with contractors, sub-contractors and vendors regarding cost forecasts/time sheets/KPIs where required
- Facilitate end of month cost reporting, accruals, data consolidation and management
- Adhoc cost management support to Maintenance Planners and Maintenance Superintendent when required
Key individual requirements;
- Tertiary qualification in Finance or related field highly desirable
- Demonstrated experience in cost administration or similar position
- Advanced in MS Excel
- Previous experience using SAP in cost management or related function
- Solid understanding of mining operations
