Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.

We require a qualified and experienced  Mechanical Fitter to join the Maintenance team based at the Geraldton Karara Export Terminal Operation. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring operational requirements are met to site standards of efficiency, quality and safety.

This role operates on an 5 days on 3 days off / 4 days on 2 days off continuous day shift roster.

**This is a 6 month fixed term contract position**

  • Be involved with writing and improving job procedures for various maintenance tasks
  • Ensure daily workloads are planned to meet daily deadlines for the turnaround of results
  • Demonstrating personal safety leadership by carrying out all work in line with policies and procedures
  • Active involvement in identifying continuous improvement opportunities with regard to processes and procedures
  • Promote positive work culture

Key requirements;

  • Cert III in Engineering Mechanical Trade - Mechanical Fitter / Fitter & Machinist
  • Cert III in Resource Processing desirable
  • Heavy Rigid WA Drivers License
  • WA High Risk Work Licenses (DG Dogging/RB Basic Rigging/WP Elevated Work Platform etc)
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and understanding of port operations and process plant equipment
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the mining/resource industry
