Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.
With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community in which we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.
We are seeking an experienced & highly capable Senior Water Management Technician to join the site based Processing team. The Senior Technician is responsible for the operation, inspection and maintenance of various water conveyance infrastructure across site, as well as the site potable and wastewater treatment plants.
This position operates on an 8 days on 6 days off roster.
Key responsibilities:
- Actively demonstrate behaviours in alignment to Karara's company values and life saving commitments

- Demonstrate personal leadership by meeting all Karara safety policy and procedure requirements
- Carry out the installation of various water infrastructure including, but not limited to submersible pumps, standpipes, tanks, HDPE pipelines, flowmeters, valves and other fittings, using machinery such as integrated tool carriers, chainsaws, skid steers, vehicle cranes, polywelding machines and heavy-rigid transportation vehicles;
- Carry out routine operational inspections on water conveyance infrastructure
- Carry out both planned and unplanned maintenance work as required
- Carry out operational inspections on the site potable and wastewater treatment plants
- Perform refuelling duties of generators where required
- Perform supervision of water management activities where required and be prepared to act in supervisor capacity to cover periods of leave
- Assist with water management related investigations and, perform root cause analysis following asset failures
- Assist with compliance monitoring activities
- Installing and troubleshooting telemetry instrumentation
- Engaging with a range of stakeholder departments to ensure Water Management works are executed efficiently, safely and to a high standard
Key qualifications & competencies:
- C Class drivers license
- Cert III Water Operations
- Competency - Recreational Skippers Ticket
- Licence - CV: High Risk - Vehicle Crane
- Licence - DG: High Risk – Dogging
- Licence - HR: Drivers - HR Class
- National Ticket - Chainsaw Operation
- National Ticket - IT Integrated Tool Carrier
- National Ticket - Skid Steer
- Qualification - Butt and Electrofusion Poly Welding
- Current immunisations for Hepatitis A and Tetanus
