Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community in which we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Control Systems Engineer to join our site based Operational Technology team, which is actively involved in the definition, integration and implementation of the process control system for Karara.

This role operates on an 8 days on 6 days off continuous day shift rotation.

As part of a small, dedicated, and specialized team with a great work culture which promotes teamwork and work-life balance, this position maintains the PLC and SCADA process control systems and infrastructure providing technical support to the maintenance and metallurgy teams with a continuous improvement focus.

Performing breakdown response, corrective maintenance and configuration on the Process Control System and associated equipment;

• GE Proficy machine edition RX3I PAC’s,
• Siemens S7 and Micro win controllers, WinCC
• Allen Bradley Control Logix 500/5000 PLC’s,
• SCADA and RS View Factory Talk HMI packages
• Plant Industrial Copper and Fiber Networks consisting of Rugged Comms layer 2 and 3 network switches

Essential Qualifications and Experience;

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (System Controls)
• GE Proficy Machine Edition version 9.5 programing software, training and experience
• GE Cimplicity SCADA version 10 programing
• Demonstrated experience as a Control Systems Engineer in a mineral processing plant with electrical and instrumentation equipment
• Experience working with Windows 2016 R2 Servers and Industrial Ethernet networking
• Strong logical problem solving ability
• Electrical, electronic and data communications knowledge, Profibus DP and PA. Modbus/TCP and 4-20mA
• Experience working across all areas of a PLC and SCADA control system
• National Police clearance
