Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community in which we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.

We are seeking an Accountant to join our Finance team based in the Perth CBD office.

Reporting to the Principal Financial Accountant, this position will focus on capital accounting and reporting, treasury accounting and administration, assisting in the financial accounting area, and some aspects of management reporting.

Key Accountabilities;

  • Maintaining the fixed asset register
  • Attending to capitalisation and disposal of fixed assets
  • Maintaining capital work in progress report including project status updates, following up with project owners and ensuring projects are capitalised in a timely manner.
  • Capital expenditure reporting against approved budget.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Weekly management reporting.
  • Daily cash reporting
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Weekly Cashflows
  • Assist with preparation of monthly overhead department’s cost reports and cost review meetings  
  • Month end journals / accruals.
  • Assist with the asset audit programme.
  • Ad hoc tasks to assist either financial or management accounting functions

Essential Qualifications and experience;

  • A Degree Qualification in Business / Commerce / Accounting
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years' work experience in similar Financial Accounting role
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • A National Police Clearance will be required to be successful for the position.
