Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community which we we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.

We have an opportunity for an experienced Cost Controller to join the team in our Perth CBD Office, the role will require some ad hoc site visits.

The Cost Controller is responsible for providing cost administration and support to the site based KML Maintenance team by ensuring information is captured to promote accurate reporting and cost management.

 

Main responsibilities & duties;

  • Manage internal and external maintenance related costs to ensure cost allocations are aligned to budgeted forecasts and approved budgets
  • Support with the development of department budget forecasts, budgets, cost reports, presentations and KPI’s
  • Manage and coordinate day-to-day tasks in line with other competing priorities to adhere to deadlines
  • Participate in identification, development and implementation of improvement projects and initiatives within the cost control function
  • Proactively monitor and report on department objectives, opportunities, risks and successes within the cost control function
  • Load all timesheet data for maintenance employees & major contractor personnel into the SAP System prior to each EOM period
  • Raise standing work orders and purchase requisitions for the maintenance department as needed to ensure consistent cost allocations
  • Reconcile and receipt maintenance invoices for all major contractors and ensure purchase orders are closed on a monthly basis
  • Facilitate the end of month cost reporting, accruals, data consolidation and management of the shutdown accounts
  • Monitor and manage maintenance department accruals in align with the work management processes
  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to resolve payment/costing issues
  • Assist with any other ad hoc cost reporting to support management decision-making

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance or other related field
  • WA ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence
  • Proven experience in a Cost Administration position or similar
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Expert user in the application of an ERP system
  • Previous site based experience in a mining, oil & gas or other heavy industry would be favoured
  • National Police Clearance
  • Permanent work rights in Australia
