Karara Mining Limited (KML) is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community in which we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.

We have an opportunity for a qualified and experienced Recruitment / Human Resources Business Partner to join our dynamic HR team based in our Perth CBD office.

This exciting and varied opportunity reports to the Principal Human Resources Business Partner, providing generalist HR support for the Perth Office with cyclical reporting and projects as well as managing end-to-end recruitment activities for the organisation.   

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with excellent communication skills with a solid background in end-to-end recruitment within the mining/heavy industry as well as exposure to generalist HR practices and procedures. 

General HR

  • Supporting compliance with company, legislative and statutory requirements
  • Support to line managers in performance management, disciplinary procedures, and grievance resolution.
  • Providing HR coaching, advice, policy and procedure interpretation to managers and employees 
  • Coordination of cyclical HR reviews and projects
  • Implementation of HR policies and documentation to remain current with legislation
  • HR data management of reporting, surveys, salary review data
  • HR reporting and analytics
  • Visa management within KML
  • Reviewing and coordinating documentation and processes for employees’ internal movement
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement of HR and recruitment processes

Recruitment

  • Responsible for end-to-end recruitment of high volume recruitment & mobilisation
  • Maintain candidate records ensuring the recruitment database is kept up to date
  • Liaising with the team and the business to ensure smooth flow of information and utilisation of the database
  • Reviewing and posting advertisements on internal and external job boards
  • Adhering to strict time frames and moving deadlines to ensure recruitment mobilisations are carried out to meet Karara requirements
  • Maintain integrity of accurate HR and recruitment data
  • Identify improvements with the recruitment process to improve efficiencies and reduce time-to-fill

 

Key Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources
  • Experience in a similar role within mining or oil & gas (highly desirable)
  • Solid understanding of Fair Work Act and employment legislation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • A practical, can-do approach with the ability to build credibility with both management and employees     
  • Ability to use initiative and adapt to change
  • National Police Clearance
  • Permanent work rights in Australia
