Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.
The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Water Management Supervisor to join the team on site, working 8 days on 6 days off FIFO roster from Perth. Reporting to the Senior Advisor Water & Environment, you will be responsible for overseeing the operational management of a team of technical experts in an on-site environment.
To be successful in the role, the following is essential:
- Certificate III in Water Operations is strongly preferred.
- HR Class Driver’s License is essential.
- Mandatory vaccinations include Hepatitis A and Tetanus.
- Certifications required: loader, skid steer, forklift, dogging/rigging, and poly welding, with an electro-fusion qualification.
- Extensive experience in a senior water management role, particularly within the resource sector.
- Strong background in the operation and maintenance of water supply and management systems.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must have a valid National Police clearance.
Key Duties:
- Engage with contractors and suppliers to ensure operations are aligned to KMLs financial and operational goals
- Lead and mentor the team in poly pipe management, pipelines, dewatering, pumps and maintenance activities at KML
- Provide advice and supervision for all poly and electro-fusion welding activities
- Develop safe systems on the maintenance of raw water, drinking water and wastewater infrastructure through standards, policies and procedures
- Engage with KML, Processing and Maintenance departments to ensure:
- Dry-pit mining conditions are maintained
- Capital water infrastructure is constructed in a timely and effective manner
- Water supply to the plant is maintained to support continuous operation with
- Coordinate and complete the sampling of groundwater to meet all compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Complete required field monitoring activities to ensure compliance with Karara’s Groundwater Licence Operating Strategies
- Engage with suppliers to maintain consumables to allow completion of required compliance monitoring
- Coordinate the installation and removal of groundwater infrastructure.
About Karara Mining
Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks. As part of the logistics network Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
