Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Process Operator, responsible for assisting the Production Supervisor in leading a crew of processing operators.

To be considered for this role, applicants must have a strong background in process operations and have held a previous leadership role in the mining / heavy industry.

Working on a Full-time 8 days on 6 days off 7 nights on 7 days off roster, FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• WHS for Supervisors: DMIRS Schedule 26 Regulations
• Western Australian C Class Drivers Licence
• Experience in Permit to Work or Control Room areas
• 5+ years extensive experience within mining, preferably mineral processing environments
• Demonstrated experience in a leadership role with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to use Microsoft Office applications
• WA HRL: Forklift (LF)
• Operate a Gantry or Overhead Crane
• Enter and Work in Confined Spaces
• Work Safely at Heights
• Conduct Operations with Intergrated Tool Carrier
• Conduct Operations with a Skid Steer Loader National Police clearance

Key Duties ;

The Senior Process Operator will at times be required to step up to the role of Production Supervisor, fulfilling all responsibilities of the role. Leading a team of processing operators accountable for the safe and reliable operations of the Karara Magnetite Concentrator, including but not limited to:

• Crushing
• Grinding
• Magnetic Separation
• Flotation
• Thickening
• Filtration (concentrate/tailings)

• Responsible for overseeing the daily execution of operational tasks and activities within the plant in close consultation with the Production Supervisor
• Responsible for ensuring Supervisor Production instructions are executed in a safe a timely manner and their progress is monitored and reported against accordingly
• Liaise with relevant personnel to identify Permit to Work and Isolation requirements
• Act as the first response for Process Operators in regard to production related troubleshooting

Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks. As part of the logistics network Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
