Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity

We are seeking capable Services Operators (Filter Support) to join our Processing teams based at the Karara Mine Site. 

This role requires certain physical demands and exposure to challenging environments that involve lifting, pushing, pulling, work at heights and others exertions associated with manual roles as well as a strong commitment to safety while working in an operational mine site environment.

Working on a Full-time 8 days on 6 days off 7 nights on 7 days off roster, FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• WA C class Drivers Licence
• Skid Steer and/or Forklift Ticket
• Proven ability to work independently and within a team
• FIFO experience within a mining or other heavy industry environment preferred  
• National Police Clearance

To be eligible to apply for this role you must be legally permitted to work permanently in Australia.

Key Duties - as directed by the Production Supervisors;

• Ensure plans, procedures and work instructions are understood and followed correctly
• Acquiring the correct equipment and tools to complete the allocated tasks
• Support concentrate production to meet the required grade and moisture specification in line with KML standards
• Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental procedures and policies
• Work effectively with all stakeholders including:
  • Metallurgist or Technician Laboratory taking plant samples to check concentrate quality and to develop strategies to maximise asset utilisation and efficiency
  • Fitters, electricians and contractors carrying out maintenance on the plant
  • Mining department delivering ore to the crusher or loading concentrate onto trains
  • Tails storage facility contractor during periods of the tails stacking system breakdowns
• Manage daily individual reporting to ensure completion in a timely manner
• Safely operate through controlling, monitoring, adjusting, recording, cleaning and improving the below sections of the concentrator:
  • Concentrate thickener
  • Concentrate filtering
  • Concentrate storage
  • Tails thickener
  • Tails filtering
  • Tails disposal

Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years.
