Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Permit to Work Supervisor, responsible for the safe development, implementation and upkeep of the Karara Processing plant isolation and tagging system.

The PTW Supervisor is accountable for providing a timely response to breakdown tasks as assigned by the Production Superintendent to ensure equipment is back online.

To be considered for this role, applicants must have a strong background in process operations and have held a previous leadership role in the mining / heavy industry.

Working on a Full-time 8 days on and 6 days off roster, FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• Demonstrated experience in leadership roles within the mining industry (Supervisory/Team Lead roles)
• Extensive experience with permit systems
• Proven knowledge and understanding of hazards working in a processing operation environment
• Strong understanding of mineral processing
• WA 'C' 'Class Drivers Licence
• Schedule 26 Appointed Persons
• Experience using all programs within the Microsoft Office Suite
• National Police clearance 
• Experience using SCADA Software (Control Room System) will be highly regarded

Key Duties;

• Enforce Isolation and Tagging compliance across site
• Train personnel in Isolation and Tagging procedures
• Audit systems and processes to ensure compliance
• Record and monitor permit times against schedules
• Manage statutory documentation and isolation libraries
• Escalate production issues to senior production leadership
• Lead and coordinate Isolation Officers
• Maintain isolation systems, hardware, and consumables
• Plan and manage isolations for maintenance, shutdowns, and major outages
• Support operations and maintenance as required

About Karara Mining

Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks. As part of the logistics network Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
