Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor responsible for leading and providing technical expertise to the KML Mechanical Maintenance teams and Contractor Trades Personnel.
This position operates on an 8 days on and 6 days off / 7 nights on and 7 days off roster.
To be successful in the role, the following is essential:
- Mechanical trade qualification
- Western Australian C Class Drivers Licence
- Tickets: Confined Spaces & Working at Heights
- Must have completed Section 26 training to ensure compliance with relevant safety and operations standards
- Strong supervision experience leading a medium to large teams
- Sound knowledge of maintenance management, strategy development and implementation
- Demonstrated ability to develop, plan and execute maintenance activities in a deadline driven environment
- Proficient in the use of SAP and Microsoft Office Suite
- Facilitating problem solving and Root cause investigations
- National Police clearance

Key Duties:
- Lead and coach the Mechanical Maintenance team
- Collaborate with the team to improve maintenance systems, processes, and procedures
- Prioritise work to meet business needs while maximising safety and production outcomes
- Manage rosters to ensure adequate site coverage and arrange contractor support when required
- Review and approve daily work plans, Take 5s, JHAs, and risk assessments before work begins
- Conduct post-outage inspections and quality audits on critical maintenance tasks
- Identify and report process improvement opportunities, recommending corrective actions where needed
- Ensure Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) are completed and provide guidance as required
- Communicate shift issues and incidents in line with Incident Management Procedures
- Assist with shutdown planning, including labour, equipment, tools, and work scopes
