Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.
The opportunity
This residential role operates on 8 days, and 6 days off / 7 days on and 7 days off roster.
To be successful in the role, the following is essential:
- Mechanical Trade Qualification
- WA ‘C’ Class Drivers’ License
- Tickets - Dogging (DG) Basic Rigging (RB) Elevated Work Platform (WP)
- Confined Space Entry & Working at heights
- Demonstrated post trade experience in the Mining or Heavy industry within a process plant environment
- Strong understanding of scheduled maintenance systems and work order process
- Demonstrated ability to undertake problem solving investigations and reviews
- Demonstrated ability to plan work in line with predicted operational requirements
- Understanding of generic process plant policies, procedures, risk assessment and management systems
- National Police clearance is required to obtain MSIC
To be eligible to apply for this role you must be residing in the Geraldton area or be prepared to relocate at own cost.
Key Duties:
- Execute SAP work tasks including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
- Raise and document maintenance notifications for future corrective and preventive tasks
- Record post-task comments highlighting improvement opportunities
- Close all work orders upon task completion
- Perform work per manufacturer specifications and quality standards
- Identify implement and communicate process improvements
- Prioritize and plan daily workloads to meet deadlines
- Inspect and scope job requirements review plans and identify tool and equipment needs to ensure timely safe and cost-effective completion
- Conduct risk assessments before maintenance identify hazards mitigate risks and complete safety documentation
- Collaborate with the planning team to develop maintenance scopes improving equipment availability reducing downtime and preventing failures
About Karara Export Terminal
Enabling movement to the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, Karara owns and operates an 80 km railway linking Tilley Junction to the mine site in the Shire of Perenjori. The terminal is capable of processing up to 16 million tonnes of export products annually from a dedicated berth, with supporting rail and train unloading infrastructure.
