Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

We are seeking an Accountant to join our Finance team in the Perth CBD office. Supporting the finance team with accurate and timely financial information with day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance, and broader finance functions. 

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Strong knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and practices
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant accounting tools
• Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organisational skills
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team
• National Police clearance 

To be eligible to apply for this role you must be legally permitted to work permanently in Australia.

Key responsibilities include:

• Perform balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
• Assist with the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports
• Support BAS, GST, and other statutory compliance requirements
• Prepare month-end journals, accruals, and related accounting adjustments
• Assist with maintaining and updating the fixed asset register
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Provide assistance during external audit processes
• Work closely with experienced team members while progressively taking on increased responsibilities
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes, systems, and reporting procedures
• Develop and maintain proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Provide ad hoc support across financial accounting functions as required
