Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.

We have an opportunity for an experienced and capable Senior Maintenance Planner. The Senior Planner will provide guidance and monitoring to the members of the Maintenance Planning Team. They will chair weekly planning meetings and promote team compliance to work management practices and KPIs. 

This role is a permanent position, based on an 8 days on 6 days off FIFO roster.

Key responsibilities: 

       Safety:

  • Adhering to all Karara safety policy and procedure requirements
  • Role model and lead the way in safe work practices
  • Actively engage in discussions to improve hazard awareness and safety
  • Contribute to the development of continuous health and safety improvements

      Technical:

  • Chair planning meetings to develop accurate maintenance schedules and shutdowns
  • Step up to provide coverage in the absence of Superintendent
  • Adhere to and promote processes and procedures identified in the Maintenance Work Management System
  • Provide technical knowledge where required regarding planning and maintenance standards
  • Participate in and contribute to development of improvement strategies and procedures for equipment and maintenance activities
  • Proactively monitor, measure, communicate and report objectives, issues, opportunities, risks, technical deviations and achievements in area of responsibility
  • Be actively involved in developing, monitoring and maintaining the maintenance system and operational budgets
  • Be involved in initiatives to improve cost effectiveness and productivity for the organisation

      Leadership:

  • Drive a strong, engaged and positive culture in the maintenance planning team
  • Implement steps to maintain moral whilst driving efficiency and business improvement
  • Coach planning team members to seek continuous improvement within their roles

Key requirements:

  • Demonstrated understanding of maintenance planning processes within the mining industry
  • Understanding of mineral processing and associated equipment
  • Previous experience as Fitter or Boilermaker advantageous
  • Previous experience in planning or similar project controls position
  • Solid experience and knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
