Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Karara operates an iron ore mine and associated infrastructure in the mid-west region of W.A. The operation is designed for a +30 year mine life and production of 8Mtpa. It comprises a long life and world-class magnetite deposit; dedicated rail infrastructure; and an integrated train load-out/ship loading facility at our Geraldton port operations. Karara is breaking new ground with the development and ongoing operation of the first significant iron ore mine in the Mid- West.
We have an opportunity for an experienced Principal Commercial Analyst to lead the commercial and management accounting team based in the corporate head office. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Principal Commercial Analyst is charged with leading the commercial and business analysis function, as well as management accounting. This is a leadership role involving complex commercial analysis, business evaluation modelling, capital project evaluation, cost control, budgeting & forecasting and month end analysis.
To be considered for this role, applicants must have a minimum of 15 years accounting and commercial analysis / business evaluation experience with a sound understanding of accounting principles and their application in the Mining industry. Significant mining industry experience is essential.

- Capital project evaluation
- Capital accounting and reporting
- Month end reporting and analysis
- Maintenance and upgrade of various financial and management accounting models
- Accounting and commercial analysis support for the management and leadership teams
- Preparation of Board Papers, accounting position papers and reports
- Implementation of effective cost control measures
- Manage the annual budget process
- Develop and maintain management cost reports and models
- Provide assistance with the month end process as required
- Assist the Financial Controller with the day to day management of the power portfolio
- Provide support to the Financial Controller and CFO as required
Key Requirements:
- CA or CPA Qualification
