Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Karara operates an iron ore mine and associated infrastructure in the mid-west region of W.A.
The operation is designed for a +30 year mine life and production of 8Mtpa. It comprises a long life and world-class magnetite deposit; dedicated rail infrastructure; and an integrated train load-out/ship loading facility at our Geraldton port operations. Karara is breaking new ground with the development and ongoing operation of the first significant iron ore mine in the mid- west.
We are seeking Track Maintainer to perform the day to day operations, maintenance and inspections functions necessary for the safe operation of the Karara Railway. During operational periods the Track Maintainer shall assist in monitoring and controlling the movement of trains, including the train load out area to ensure the delivery of correct quality ore for shipping. During maintenance periods the Track Maintainer shall complete activities relevant to the maintenance of the railway to enable efficient operation. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated understanding of rail operations in heavy industry.
This role operates on an 8:6 day shift / 7:7 night shift and is DIDO from Geraldton or FIFO from Perth
Role responsibilities;

- Lead by example and carry out all work in a safe manner ensuring the safety and well-being of you, other employees, contractors and visitors
- Actively contribute to meetings and planning discussions on improving hazard awareness and safety
- Perform rail infrastructure, inspections and maintenance to company standards, ensuring a safe and reliable rail system is maintained
- Perform operations tasks for management of train load out and the railway generally to facilitate the efficient supply of trains into the supply chain
- Supervisor contractors on track
- Monitor and report as required on; train loading, train operations, railway infrastructure inspection and maintenance
- Comply with statutory requirements and company policies and procedures applicable to the Operations and Maintenance of the railway
- Cooperate and work effectively with other departments to ensure company plans and targets are achieved
- Contribute to the compilation of daily production data relating to rail operations and maintenance
- Data entry and periodic reporting as required
- Engage in continuous improvement to constantly seek better, safer and more efficient ways of undertaking activities and/or tasks
Key individual requirements;
- Class 'C' 'Drivers License (WA).
- MC or HR License
- Cert II or Cert III Rail Infrastructure
- ARC Infrastructure Track Accreditation (PO or POTV)
- Road Rail Vehicle license
- Rail maintenance experience
- Proficient computer skills (MS Outlook Email, MS Excel data entry etc)
